Best Classic Recipe For Making Fried Rice (Nasi Goreng)

Here is a classic recipe for Nasi Goreng, a popular Indonesian fried rice dish:


Ingredients:


2 cups cooked rice

2 tablespoons oil

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 small red chili pepper, sliced

1 small carrot, diced

1 small green pepper, diced

2 eggs, beaten

2 tablespoons kecap manis (sweet soy sauce)

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 scallions, sliced

2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro


Instructions:


1. Heat the oil in a large wok or frying pan over medium heat.

2. Add the onion, garlic, and chili pepper, and stir-fry for 1 minute until fragrant.

3. Add the carrot and green pepper and stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes, or until the vegetables are slightly softened.

4. Push the vegetables to the side of the pan and pour in the beaten eggs. Scramble the eggs until they are set.

5. Add the cooked rice to the pan and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes to combine with the vegetables and eggs.

6. Stir in the kecap manis, oyster sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the rice is heated through and well-coated with the sauce.

7. Stir in the scallions and cilantro and cook for 1 minute more.

8. Serve hot with a side of pickled cucumber and sliced chili pepper, if desired. Enjoy!
