Ingredients:


1. 1-2 steaks, cut to desired thickness

2. Salt

3. Freshly ground black pepper

4. Olive oil or melted butter

Instructions:


1. Take the steaks out of the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes to an hour.


2. Season both sides of the steaks generously with salt and black pepper.


3. Heat a heavy-bottomed pan, such as a cast-iron skillet, over high heat until it is very hot.


4. Add a bit of olive oil or melted butter to the pan and swirl to coat.
